Sextortion suspects detained pending trial

By CHRISTIE MASTRIC Journal Staff Writer MARQUETTE — Samuel Ogoshi, 22 and Samson Ogoshi, 20, two Nigerian men recently extradited in the Jordan DeMay sextortion case, were detained in the downstate Newaygo County Jail pending trial during a Friday bond hearing. The Ogoshis were arraigned on Aug. 17 in the U.S. District Court Western District of Michigan in Grand Rapids. The Ogoshis, who are from Lagos, Nigeria, pleaded not guilty. DETROIT (AP) — The United Auto Workers union says it has filed unfair labor practice complaints against Stellantis and General Motors for failing to make counteroffers to the union’s economic demands. MARQUETTE — Here are the Upper Peninsula fishing conditions as of Aug. 31 according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources: Little Bay de Noc: Perch anglers reported slow to fair fishing, with continued success fishing and drifting minnows. Walleye anglers in the upper bay caught small fish, with occasional keepers. Drifting and trolling harnesses or body baits were the main methods in use. Trump pleads not guilty in Georgia election case

ATLANTA (AP) — Former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty on Thursday and sought to sever his case from other defendants who are accused along with him of illegally trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee had set arraignment hearings for Trump and the 18 others charged in the case for Sept. 6.
