Two die in Iron Mountain crash

IRON MOUNTAIN — Two people were killed in an accident in Iron Mountain on Monday.

The Iron Mountain Police Department said the police department as well as the Iron Mountain Fire Department were dispatched to a personal injury accident on West “A” Street at about 6:15 p.m. Monday.

The accident occurred when an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on West “A” Street struck a parked car in the 1200 block and continued out of control into the 1300 block, striking a second parked car.

The SUV rolled, ejecting or partially ejecting both occupants. The occupants were transported to Dickinson County Hospital in grave condition.

Police reported the occupants, identified as Craig Sorenson, 72, and Jaquie Sorenson, 72, both of Aurora, Wisconsin, died form injuries they received in the traffic crash.

Assisting at the scene were a Michigan State Police accident investigator and Integrity Care EMS. The investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
