Detroit to host conference

DETROIT (AP) — Barriers and opportunities to access to arts, culture, mobility, urban space and the new economy will be discussed during an internet and digital society conference in Detroit.

Organizers say the re:publica Sequencer Tour will be held Sept. 27-28. The conference also will explore ways in which digitization is changing societies around the globe.

The event is free and open to the public. It includes panels, workshops, ideation labs and formats that encourage active participation by people attending the sessions.

Chief Executive Andreas Gebhard says that with the Detroit conference, re:publica is “looking forward to an intense debate on questions around access and an exchange of creative ideas for social change.”

Gebhard says organizers want to connect people in the Detroit area with other communities “from different corners of the society.”
