9/11 town hall planned
DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — A Detroit-area town hall-style event will feature personal stories, a panel discussion and theatrical performance focused on surveillance and imprisonment of U.S. Arabs, Muslims and other communities of color.
The Arab American National Museum in Dearborn will host “9/11 Anniversary Town Hall: Detention and Incarceration” on Friday. The fourth annual event aims to explore how such communities have been targeted during the past two decades with national security as a rationale.
The performance, entitled “Letters from Detention,” is based on letters between two brothers held on separate floors of Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center for months after Sept. 11.
Cost is $15, $10 for museum members.
