MARQUETTE – The Peninsula Waters Girl Scout Council is celebrating 25 years of service to leaders and Girl Scouts of the Upper Peninsula. March 6-12 is the week-long celebration of Girl Scout week and the birthday of Girl Scouting in the U.S. April 22 is Girl Scout Leaders Day, which is set aside for an appreciation of the leaders and volunteers who make the organization activities possible.

MARQUETTE – The great event of the year for housewives of Marquette and surrounding areas will be held tomorrow evening and Wednesday afternoon- the second annual cooking school presented by The Mining Journal and with Upper Peninsula Power Co. as an alternate sponsor. The school offers excitement, color, and new lessons in modern living to be offered to the women who are expected to pack Kaufman auditorium. There will be recipes offered that conform to today’s modern living, in a cookbook that will be distributed free of charge.
