NEGAUNEE — WLUC-TV today signed a $65,000 contract with RCA factory and RCA Service Co. to install the newest type of equipment into its micro-wave system. This figure brings the total expenditure for the year to $215,000. RCA Service Co. will start this complete renovation Monday. The completion date is set for Sept. 25. Involved in this new installation is the latest decoding system which can predict trouble before it starts, or pin-point it when it happens. RCA Service Co. will guarantee, after the completion date, that the network loss of time will be measured in minutes for the year to come, rather than in hours and days. With this guarantee, WLUC-TV has hopes of retiring its “Please Stand By” slide, company officials said.
