NEGAUNEE — There is little likelihood that Negaunee will have a city baseball team during the coming season according to all available information. An amateur organization, to be known as the Rexalls, is planning to enter the Inter-County Amateur league and from all present indications, it will be the city’s only diamond representative. Officials of the Negaunee Athletic association stated that no plans had been made to send delegates to the annual spring meeting of the Upper Peninsula Baseball association, scheduled to be held tomorrow afternoon in the Elks clubrooms. Interest in semi-pro and amateur baseball has been on the wane here several years and baseball enthusiasts have faced a discouraging situation. For the past two years, from one to three players including a pitcher, have been hired. Attendance at most of the home games last season was so poor that difficulty was experienced in pay the visiting team’s expenses.
