ISHPEMING — On Sunday, Mrs. Hannah Carlson celebrated her 94th birthday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stone. About 50 relatives and friends were present. A pleasant surprise for Mrs. Carlson was the arrival of her niece, Mrs. John Dermody, and her niece’s husband, Major Dermody, from Chicago. Mrs. Carlson received many gifts of money, flowers and greeting cards. A corsage was presented to her by her great grandchildren. She is in good health, is very alert and has a keen sense of humor. Her memory is excellent, and she knows exactly the names and birthdays of all her descendants. She also is able to perform most of her household duties. Mrs. Carlson is the mother of four sons, Albert, at home; George and Theodore, Ishpeming, and Jack, North Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Mildred) Stone, Ishpeming. There are eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Carlson arrived in Ishpeming in 1882, when she was 17 years of age and has been a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for 77 years. She is at present the oldest living member of the church.
