City commission to hold work session today

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Commission will hold a work session today at 4 p.m. in city commission chambers of Marquette City hall, located at 300 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette. The purpose of the session is to discuss the future use of D.J. Jacobetti Veterans Home property. Public comments may not exceed three minutes per person. Community reentry simulation offered in Marquette County

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan Opioid Response Consortium, a federally grant funded program under the Michigan Center for Rural Health, will facilitate a “Community Reentry Simulation” event in Marquette County on May 21. M-129 bridge project north of M-80 in Chippewa County starts May 18

NEWBERRY — The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $1.5 million to replace the M-129 bridge over Fletcher Creek in Chippewa County. The project will include road reconstruction, guardrail work and pavement markings. Work is scheduled to start Monday, May 18 and conclude Friday, Sept. 18. Motorists will be detoured via M-80, Gaines Highway, I-75 and M-28. This project will replace a structure that has reached the end of its useful service life, extending the lifespan of the roadway and increasing safety for motorists.
