Marquette invites public to virtual presentation on Sustainable Tourism Plan

By Bud Sargent 2 min read

MARQUETTE -- The city of Marquette is inviting residents, local businesses and community organizations to take part in an upcoming virtual presentation highlighting the development of the city’s Sustainable Tourism Plan.

The presentation is scheduled from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 and will provide an update on the planning process, including key findings, insights and themes that have emerged during the first two phases of the project.

City officials say keeping the community informed and involved is an important part of developing the plan. The presentation will give participants an opportunity to learn what has been accomplished so far, hear what community members have shared and understand how those perspectives are helping shape the plan.

The session will follow a listen-and-learn format. Although there will not be a live question-and-answer session, participants will have an opportunity to provide input through a short online survey.

Community members can join the presentation through Google Meet at https://meet.google.com/kvx-jftr-iso. Those who prefer to participate by phone can access available dial-in numbers through the meeting information.

No registration or RSVP is required.

For those unable to attend the live presentation, the city plans to share a recording and a link to the feedback survey through its community communication channels following the event. Residents will still have an opportunity to review the presentation and submit their thoughts.

The city is encouraging participation from a broad range of community members, including residents, business owners, tourism industry stakeholders and local organizations.

As Marquette continues to attract visitors and grow as a tourism destination, developing a sustainable approach to tourism is an important part of planning for the community’s future. Gathering input from those who live, work and do business in the area can help ensure the plan reflects local perspectives and priorities.

Community members are encouraged to attend the Nov. 10 presentation or watch the recording afterward and share their feedback as the city of Marquette moves forward with its Sustainable Tourism Plan.
