MARQUETTE -- The city of Marquette's solid waste drop-off site is nearing the end of its operating season, with the final day for rubbish disposal scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28, weather permitting.
For the safety of residents using the site, the rubbish drop-off area will now close at dusk each day it is open.
The compost and brush drop-off site will remain available on a limited schedule. It will be open Tuesdays from 3 p.m. until dusk and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The tentative final day for the compost and brush drop-off site is Tuesday, Nov. 10, also weather permitting.
Both sites will reopen in the spring. City officials said a new operating schedule will be posted when the sites reopen.
