MARQUETTE - Eight Marquette men were arrested this week after it was discovered that the Simmons Brothers warehouse had been burglarized and a large amount of beer and wine taken. All eight appeared in Marquette Township Court before Justice George J. Fezzey Wednesday. The arrests were made Tuesday morning by state police from the Marquette post and Donald Hermanson, Marquette Township marshal.

HARVEY - A sewing machine school, to which all farm women in Marquette County have been invited, will be held in the Chocolay town hall at 10 a.m. Friday, September 11, L. R. Walker, county agricultural agent, announced yesterday. Art Bell, agricultural engineering specialist at Michigan State college will be in charge of the school. He will demonstrate how to clean, repair, and adjust sewing machines, regardless of make. Mr. Walker said a dozen women have promised to bring machines to the school and that no others will be needed. However, all women who own or expect to own sewing machines are invited to attend and watch the demonstration. Each attendee bringing in a machine has been asked to have ready a pie tine, a spool of No. 40 or 50 thread, one-quarter yard of muslin, some old cloth for cleaning and a pint of kerosene.
