MARQUETTE - Unidentified flying objects will be the topic for the Shiras Planetarium programs next week. George W. Girard, director of the planetarium, said the UFO series will begin Monday. "Have you ever wondered whether intelligent life exists somewhere else in the universe besides the earth?" Girard asks, "If so, come to the Shiras Planetarium next week and learn what the most informed thinking has to say about the subject. You will be taken on a tour of our own solar system and hear the possibilities of life elsewhere discussed. Then you will travel beyond our solar system to distant suns and explore the possibilities in those systems." This particular program, Girard said, is not generally recommended for small children, as they are apt to find it dull.

MARQUETTE - Recently appointed municipal court judge, Ralph R. Eldredge finds each new day bringing something different to his courtroom in the city hall. Yesterday, with no criminal and civil cases on the docket, Judge Eldredge was ready to close up shop for the day when he was called upon to preside at a wedding. The justice was so surprised and agitated he threw away a perfectly good "chaw" of his favorite tobacco. He asked the couple to overlook any "slips I make," because "it will be legal regardless of whether I stumble over the ceremony."
