Program on blue spotted salamander of Presque Isle planned

MARQUETTE -- At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Peter White Public Library Community Room, Dr. Jill Leonard, professor and chair of the Northern Michigan University Department of Biology, will provide a public lecture on the blue spotted salamander of Presque Isle.
She will provide an overview of its biology and a summary of her ongoing research of the salamander. MooseWood Nature Center is a cooperating resource in this research. The program is free. Donations are appreciated for support of MooseWood Nature Center.
Following the lecture, a review of MooseWood Nature Center will be provided for members and interested non-members. Information will be provided about MWNC’s board, volunteers, current membership, financial position, programs and visitor census, completed renovations and funded improvements planned for 2027.
Information about volunteer roles will be provided. Questions, suggestions and active discussion are encouraged following the review.
