Preserving teeth the goal of local program

By Journal staff 1 min read

MARQUETTE -- Helping area students maintain healthy smiles starts with being prepared when a dental emergency happens.

The Marquette County Health Department, in partnership with the Superior District Dental Society and Peninsula Pharmacy, is providing area schools with "Transport a Tooth" kits. The tooth saver kits help students and school staff respond quickly when a permanent tooth is knocked out.

Once again, Peninsula Pharmacy donated the tooth saver kits for free! The MCHD will distribute the kits in September. A kit is used if a student has a tooth accidentally knocked out during school hours.

The solution will preserve the avulsed tooth until the student can get to the dental office, hopefully within an hour.
