ISHPEMING -- Partridge Creek Farm has announced that it will now accept Women Infant Children Benefits benefits at their Wednesday evening West End Farm Stand.
Located at the Partridge Creek Community Farm, 550 Cleveland Ave., Ishpeming, the farm stand offers a variety of seasonal produce from June-October 21 and is open from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The community is invited to shop using various food assistance benefits, including SNAP/EBT, Food as Medicine, Fresh Food Access, Senior Project Fresh and WIC.
By accepting food assistance benefits, Partridge Creek Farm aims to continue reaching more members of their community, connecting them with access to fresh, affordable, and nutritious food right in Ishpeming.
PCF's West End Farm Stand is centrally located in downtown Ishpeming behind the Jasperlite Senior Housing Center. This location is accessible to those living near or in the downtown area as it could be walkable. According to the U.S. Census Bureau and data mapping by Feeding America, 18.7% of Ishpeming's population is facing poverty and food insecurity without access to a sufficient quantity of affordable nutritious food.
"Making food accessible to all members of our community is the goal of our organization. Accepting WIC will be great in reaching even more of our community who are facing food insecurity", said Sarah Hayward PCF's Food Access manager.
