MARQUETTE -- Fans of Chicago blues will have a chance to see one of the genre’s legendary performers when John Primer & The Real Deal Blues Band take the stage at Ore Dock Brewing Company on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The Marquette Area Blues Society is presenting the award-winning guitarist and singer at Ore Dock Brewing Company, located at 114 West Spring St., in Marquette. Doors open at 6 p.m., with music beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The evening will begin with a special performance by the duo Ashlyn Joriann and Canyon Medina. Primer and The Real Deal Blues Band are scheduled to take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
Primer is widely recognized as a major figure in Chicago blues. During his career, he performed with blues icons Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and Magic Slim before beginning a successful solo career that has earned multiple awards.
He has performed at blues festivals around the world and has also appeared several times at the Marquette Area Blues Festival.
Walt Lindala, a Marquette Area Blues Society board member and event coordinator, said audiences can expect an authentic Chicago blues experience.
"John and the band bring the best of the electric, gritty Chicago blues to stage, and this show will be a great chance to see a real master in action," Lindala said. "It is a DO NOT MISS show!"
Tickets are $20 in advance and are available exclusively at Marquette Wallpaper & Paint in Marquette. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $25 on the night of the performance.
The Blues Society said tickets are limited, making advance purchase an option for those who want to ensure admission.
The event is supported by Ore Dock Brewing Company, the Ramada Inn, TV6 & FOX UP and mediaBrew Communications.
