L’ANSE -- The Baraga County Chamber of Commerce has selected a new board member, Kevin Patana.
Patana brings a diverse professional background, including service as a paramedic and fire chief, work as an MRI technologist and his current roles as a realtor and co-owner of Silver River Bakery, Dianne Koskinen, chamber executive director, said in a written statement. He has extensive managerial experience from years of business ownership and leadership.
Outside of work, Patana enjoys hunting, fishing, and SXS riding. This year marks his 20th season as an MHSAA basketball official, something he says helps the winters go by fast, Koskinen said.
The chamber board has additional openings, Koskinen noted.
“It's an excellent opportunity for chamber members to help shape the future of our local business community while maintaining a reasonable time commitment,” she said. “Board service allows members to stay informed, contribute to countywide initiatives, and support the continued growth of Baraga County's business environment.”
The Baraga County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is open to anyone affiliated with a chamber member, whether through their workplace or an organization they volunteer with. Individuals not currently affiliated with a member can become eligible by purchasing an individual chamber membership.
The board meets 10 times per year, always on the second Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. This schedule keeps the commitment manageable and avoids evening conflicts.
