NMU announces 2026 Homecoming schedule

MARQUETTE -- Northern Michigan University has announced the schedule for its 2026 Homecoming.
At 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, the NMU volleyball team will play Davenport University at the Vandament Arena. Tickets are available for purchase at nmu.universitytickets.com.
At 5:30 p.m. the same day, the Homecoming parade will begin, traveling from Fair Avenue down Third Street and Front Street in Marquette.
Also on Friday, there will be an alumni awards luncheon (by invitation only) and the NMU Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner and ceremony. Tickets for that event are available at the NMU ticket office and website.
The Golden Wildcat Brunch will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18 in the Northern Center Ballrooms, honoring the 50th anniversary class of 1976. A registration form is available at nmu.edu/alumniassociation/goldenwildcats.
There will be a tailgate party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday behind the Superior Dome, ahead of the NMU Homecoming football game against Davenport which will begin at 1 p.m. in the dome. Tickets can be purchased at nmu.universitytickets.com.
At 4 p.m. on Saturday, the NMU volleyball team will take on Saginaw Valley State at the Vandament Arena.
In addition, an NMU Theater production of "Find a TV" will be held in Jamrich 1100 at 7:30 p.m. on all three nights, Sept. 17-19.
A news release states: "'Class is canceled. Find a TV.' Those words were written on a dry-erase board in an empty NMU classroom on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. It was a day that changed the world. But how did it shape life in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula?
"In anticipation of the 25th anniversary of the attacks, Dr. Anna Zimmer and Honors Program students interviewed dozens of U.P. residents about their memories of 9/11. Dr. Zimmer and Professor Jimmy Ludwig then used those oral histories to help create "Find a TV," an original play produced with the Found Space Theatre Company, an NMU student organization. The production premiered on campus in (the) spring to widespread acclaim.
"Twenty-five years later, "Find a TV" asks how we have carried the lessons of that day forward.
As part of NMU Homecoming 2026, "Find a TV" returns to the stage Sept. 17-19, inviting alumni, community members and friends to reflect on the day that changed everything through the voices and experiences of the Upper Peninsula.
