ISHPEMING -- Nana Ann's Massage and Wellness celebrated its ribbon cutting on Aug. 12 in the historic Gossard Building in downtown Ishpeming.
The ribbon cutting was supported by the Lake Superior Community Partnership, which assisted with the celebration and has also worked with owner Khora Swanson as she established her new business.
Nana Ann's Massage and Wellness was created by Swanson to provide a much-needed wellness service to the Ishpeming community through intuitive, hands-on massage and healing. The space is dedicated to her nana, Ann Wise, as well as the family and friends who have helped her along the way. With deep roots in the community, Swanson designed the space as an environment where people can feel comfortable, supported, and welcome.
"I created Nana Ann's Massage and Wellness to provide intuitive, hands-on touch to this community," said Swanson. "My intention is to help relieve pain, whether physical or emotional and help people feel safe and comfortable. My roots are deep within the community, and I'm so honored to welcome people into this healing environment. Come as you are."
Nana Ann's offers tailored, intuitive massage based on each client's preferences and needs, as well as restorative massage using light touch and long holds to encourage relaxation and engage the parasympathetic nervous system. The business also offers yoga classes and series, including restorative, slow flow yoga, along with special guest teachers.
Chair massage is also available by appointment for businesses and events.
As part of the business startup, Swanson was awarded a $5,000 Startup Assistance Grant through the Ishpeming Downtown Development Authority to assist with startup costs.
