ESCANABA -- The last Saturday in August on the 29th will host the 4th annual Jesus Festival, taking place only 1 day this year. This regional has brought in up to 3,500 people over a weekend.

With 10 churches from various denominations, almost 200 volunteers, salvations and baptisms it provided something many people are seeking hope. Hope despite circumstances, hope for the future, hope for change. This year Evangelist Justin Fahrenbruch will be the keynote speaker. Justin Fahrenbruch is an evangelist dedicated to sharing the Kingdom of God and has experience traveling the country with a powerful message.

After spending 14 years bound in addiction, Fahrenbruch experienced a radical encounter with Jesus Christ that completely transformed his life. Since then, he has devoted himself to preaching the Gospel, equipping believers, and bringing the message of hope wherever he goes. Alongside his wife Candace and their family, Justin carries a passion to reach the “forgotten” and ignite a movement of believers living out the Gospel in everyday life.

Every year the mix of music, testimonies, and generosity brings a wholesome and sincere experience many people are craving. The lead speaker shared about abuse he suffered at the hands of neighborhood boys as a young boy and how it affected his adult life. How through his relationship with Jesus he no longer lived from that place and was free from the results of his past. Several men came forward in confidence of similar experiences that wanted to be able to put the past behind them. A woman also shared her story of sexual abuse which led to a great deal of brokenness and guilt from abortions later in life.

After she shared and came down from the stage, she was met by a young woman who could relate to her struggles and they talked and hugged through the tears. This is what the Jesus Festival is about, letting people know they aren't alone and healing and freedom are available through a God who loves them.

Overall, the atmosphere is light and fun. Many people exclaim how enjoyable it is and describe it as "Not pushy and enjoyable." There will be free food by our sponsors: Dominos and Drifters once again. Live music from several local artists and featuring a classic rock band who features music by Christian artist like Petra. Fun is available for everyone with face paint, kiddie games, fire truck, police, bounce houses, golf contest, Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament, Marine & Army contests, bean bags, and more. The event takes place 1 day only this summer from 2-8 p.m. Aug. 29. There will be a Jesus Rally event from 4-7 p.m. Aug. 28 that will include messages by local pastors and leaders, prayer, and worship. Fahrenbruch will speak at 6:40 on Friday.

The goal of the Jesus Festival is for everyone to leave feeling loved and blessed. For more information go to uprevivalisnow.com.
