Groundbreaking for new 906 Adventure Team facility

MARQUETTE -- The Lake Superior Community Partnership recently assisted 906 Adventure Team with a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on Gluski Park, a new community trailhead for outdoor adventure located at 955 N. Lakeshore Blvd., in Marquette.
906 Adventure Team is a Marquette-based nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring people to become the best version of themselves through outdoor adventure. Through youth programs, events, and trail initiatives, 906 Adventure Team helps individuals discover confidence, resilience and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.
Gluski Park will be located behind 906 Adventure Team's headquarters on Marquette's east side. It is designed to be a welcoming outdoor space that brings people together through adventure, recreation, and community connection. The park will provide a place for residents and visitors of all ages to ride bikes, walk, gather, play, and experience the outdoors together.
"Gluski Park is more than a trailhead, it is a place where our community can come together," said Elizabeth Peterson, champion for Adventure of 906 Adventure Team. "This space is built for everyone. It's a place where families can spend time together, kids can learn the value of doing hard things, and people can discover the confidence and connection that comes from outdoor adventure. We believe this park will help more people find their best selves through time spent outside."
Being located in the heart of Marquette's east side is a key part of Gluski Park's mission. The space is intentionally designed to be connected, visible and accessible, creating opportunities for neighbors to meet, build relationships and share experiences.
This first phase of construction will include trail infrastructure, a pump track, and parking lot enhancements. Future phases to begin in Spring 2027 will include the park kiosk, community pavilion, a storage shed, final landscaping, and a donor wall. The project is expected to be completed in Fall 2027, with a community celebration planned for September that year.
The Gluski Park campaign launched in May with construction made possible through community support and fundraising efforts.
