Gladstone Lions donate $500 to the Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine #730 Authority

GLADSTONE -- The Gladstone Lions Club Treasurer Christian Tackman, on behalf of the membership, presented a donation check of $500 to the Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine #730 Authority.
This gift will support to build and operate, maintain and manage a combined local welcome center, visitor information clearinghouse and historical museum facility dedicated to preserving and celebrating regional history. To safeguard, restore, and provide perpetual care for historic railroad artifacts, rolling stock, and infrastructure--specifically including, but not limited to, the Soo Line Steam Engine #730.
To collect, archive, display and interpret artifacts, documents and narratives that reflect the broader community heritage, civic development and industrial lineage of the region for the education, benefit and enjoyment of future generations.
"Club Secretary Joe Maki about why this cause is so important to the club and the Gladstone Community,” said Without the Soo Line Railroad Gladstone Would not exist as a City", and it is imperative to not forget the local histoty for future generations."
The funds for this to preserve history were raised through the Annual Motor Mayhem Car event and the 4th July activities by the club. Board Members accepted the check and expressed gratitude for the continued partnership with the local Lions Club.
