MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Choral Society will begin rehearsals for its December concert of Holiday Favorites on Aug. 24, in the Northern Michigan University Thomas Fine Arts Building. The repertoire will include a variety of music from composers like Stephen Paulus, Felix Mendelssohn, Steve Heitzig, Healey William and John Tavener.
No audition is required to join MCS. New and returning members may register at one of the first two rehearsals, Aug. 24 or Aug. 31. Participants should arrive early as registration will begin at 6 p.m. A $70 registration fee helps cover the cost of music and pay for concert expenses. Full or partial scholarships may be available upon request.
The MCS rehearses from 7-9 p.m. Monday evenings in the NMU Choral Room (Room 250 in the Thomas Fine Arts Building).
The December concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, in Reynolds Recital Hall at NMU, Marquette. For more information, please visit www.marquettechoralsociety.org or email choralsociety906@gmail.com.
