MARQUETTE – Marquette Arts & Music Wellness Lions Club celebrated its first anniversary with a public fundraising event on June 24 at Blackrocks Brewery in Marquette. The Lake Superior Community Partnership assisted with the celebration by hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Marquette Arts & Music Wellness Lions Club is a nonprofit organization and a subset of the Marquette Lions Club. The organization coordinates local musicians and artists to bring the healing power of music and the arts to veterans, seniors and community members through performances and programming at local nursing homes, veterans centers, Great Lakes Recovery, and other community facilities.

The anniversary celebration served as a fundraiser for the MAMWLC and Northwoods Airlifeline, with proceeds helping support transportation and flight expenses for children in the U.P. traveling to specialized facilities for cancer treatment. Attendees enjoyed an evening of community engagement, live music and opportunities to support the organization’s mission of enhancing wellness through the arts while giving back to families facing medical challenges.
