NEGAUNEE — Negaunee police officer Ted Raymond sees the world a little more clearly from the seat of his bicycle. And that suits him just fine. Negaunee welcomes their first pedaling patrolman and he is the city’s first bicycle cop. Police chief Paul Waters said the bike patrol is the latest component of a policing policy that emphasizes community relations rather than arrests. He said his department will assess the bike patrol program later this year to see whether more officers will switch from four wheels to two.

MARQUETTE — U.S. Weather Bureau statistics prove no records were broken or equaled in Marquette during June, but that was the month, that was, nevertheless. It started on a low note with a maximum of 59 degrees June 1 and ended on a high note with a maximum of 94 on June 30. Between those extremes, there was hail, frost, thunder and heat.
