MARQUETTE -- Phil Roos, director of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy(EGLE) will visit the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority starting at 11 a.m. today to announce the Fiscal Year 2026 Recycling Infrastructure Grant recipients and tour MCSWMA’s Material Recovery Facility and Reverse Osmosis Treatment Plant.
The tour will feature MCSWMA’s single-stream recycling operations, including its SamurAI robotic sorting system and its advanced reverse osmosis treatment plant, which is designed to removes PFAS and other contaminants from landfill leachate before treated water is safely discharged.
The tour will highlight how Michigan is investing in innovative waste management technology that helps safeguard our natural resources and protect public health.
