M-35 culvert project detour starts July 20
ISHPEMING - The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $3.6 million to replace a culvert on M-35 over Warner Creek north of Palmer in Marquette County. Work includes replacing the existing structure with a concrete box culvert, asphalt rebuilding and pavement markings, extending the lifespan of the roadway and increasing safety for motorists.
The tentative starting date for the project is July 20 and the estimated ending date is mid-August.
Motorists should expect one lane of alternating traffic with a temporary signal starting July 20. Northbound and southbound M-35 will be closed at Warner Creek beginning July 27 with a posted detour on US 41 and M-553. The detour is expected to last two weeks.
After the detour is lifted, one lane of alternating traffic with a temporary signal will resume for approximately two weeks.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 30 jobs.
