ESCANABA - Bay College has announced that Vice President of Workforce Innovation & Strategic Partnerships Cindy Gallagher has been appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on the Future of Work. Her three-year appointment began July 1 and continues through June 30, 2029.
The AACC Commission on the Future of Work examines emerging workforce trends and helps shape strategies that prepare community colleges to meet the evolving needs of students, employers, and local economies. Commissioners provide guidance and recommendations to the AACC Board of Directors on issues affecting the future of workforce education and training.
Gallagher’s appointment recognizes her leadership in advancing workforce innovation, building strategic partnerships, and strengthening connections between higher education and industry. As a commissioner, she will collaborate with community college leaders from across the nation to help shape the future of workforce education and ensure community colleges continue to meet the changing needs of employers and students.
“I’m honored to be selected to collaborate with national leaders to develop strategies to support the future of work and evolving employer needs and bring that work back to the Upper Peninsula to help grow and strengthen our workforce,” said Gallagher.
In a letter announcing the appointment, AACC Chief of Staff Tammy Reichelt stated that Gallagher’s “insights and leadership will significantly contribute to the Board’s decision-making process and its ability to serve the interests of all AACC member institutions.”

The American Association of Community Colleges is the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges, representing nearly 1,000 associate-degree-granting institutions. Through its commissions, AACC engages experienced leaders from member institutions to provide insight and recommendations on critical issues impacting higher education and workforce development.
Gallagher’s appointment further strengthens Bay College’s national engagement and reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to workforce excellence, innovation, and student success.
