Public art transformation set

MARQUETTE — The Community Foundation of Marquette County operates from a centrally located office space in the City of Marquette, with affiliates in Big Bay, Gwinn, Ishpeming and Negaunee. While the office location provides access for residents across the region, a wall in the adjacent parking lot presented an opportunity for creative community engagement.

What began as a simple conversation turned into a plan. The Community Foundation worked with Artists in Excellence, inviting them to imagine something bigger than paint on concrete. The artists came with sketches, stories and color – ideas shaped by the community itself. Students chose a theme of Reciprocity. A beautiful mural project is the result.

Highbridge Property Management offered more than just space-they entrusted the next generation to shape a visible piece of their property’s identity. Midway Rentals stepped in with practical support, donating scaffolding and storage, turning what could have been a logistical barrier into a shared investment.

As the mural took form, so did connections–between students and among these partners who each played a role. This mural project underscores your community foundation’s ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration, supporting the arts and enhancing shared community spaces.
