M-28 shoulder work in Chippewa County starts June 8
SAULT STE. MARIE — The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $2.9 million for shoulder widening on M-28 from M-221 to I-75 in Chippewa County, extending the lifespan of the roadway and increasing safety for motorists.
The project also includes resurfacing the carpool lot at the I-75 interchange.
The tentative start date is Monday, June 8 with the estimated ending date of Friday, Aug. 21. Motorists should expect single-lane closures on M-28 from M-221 to I-75. An 11-foot width restriction will be in place during the project.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 25 jobs.
