Build U.P.-supported housing project ‘The Chipp’ now leasing

MARQUETTE — The Chipp, a new 14-unit workforce housing development at Chippewa Square in south Marquette, is now leasing.

The project is the first housing development in the city to use Marquette’s brownfield and tax increment financing plans, helping make the project more financially feasible while keeping a focus on attainable housing.

Co-owners Aaron Leppanen and George Stein worked with the Marquette County Land Bank Authority, with assistance from InvestUP’s Build U.P., to help make the project happen.

One-bedroom units filled quickly and two-bedroom units remain available, adding needed inventory in a market where workforce housing continues to be a critical part of economic growth.

Starting at $4.00/week.
