Book launch planned for Marquette

MARQUETTE — At 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, a book party and cookie potluck will take place at U.P. Supply Co., 221 W. Washington St., in support of “U.P. Dream Days,” an idiosyncratic guide to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula published in February of this year.

Rather than a standard travel guide, “U.P. Dream Days” is constructed around “dream days” contributed by locals. Each dream day is an itinerary of the places they take visitors. Contributors include a farmer in Chatham, a community organizer in Sault Ste. Marie, a field recordist in the Keweenaw and the 2023 Lilac Queen of Mackinac Island. The result is part guidebook, part portrait of life in the northwoods.

Happy to send a review copy or chat ahead of the June 26 event. The book is also available at Peter White Public Library, the Marquette Food Co-op and U.P. Supply Co.
