US-2 resurfacing project in Iron County starts today
CRYSTAL FALLS - Starting today, the Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $9.5 million to resurface approximately 2 miles of US-2 from the Wisconsin state line to Airport Road in Iron County.
The project will include asphalt crushing, shaping and resurfacing, drainage improvements, guardrail, signs and pavement markings. This project, which is covered by five-year materials and workmanship pavement warranties, will extend the lifespan of the roadway and increase safety for motorists.
Motorists should expect single-lane closures with temporary traffic signals. The estimated completion time is late October.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 80 jobs.
