REPUBLIC — Beavers rule River Road in Republic Township, as a flood warning remained in effect today for north and west Marquette County. The Michigamme River covered County Road L.G. in seven places this morning that were passable only by truck. In some places, the road, also known as River Road, was 3 feet deep. Local residents estimate the river has risen more than 6 feet since Sunday.

K.I. SAWYER — For six hours tomorrow, K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base will be the scene of flyovers, bus tours, static displays of aircraft and missiles, and drum demonstrations. The event is the open house slated from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in observance of Armed Forces Day, 1966. As part of the Combat Defense Squadron’s display, a pellet gun firing range has been set up to give visitors an opportunity to try their hand at a .38-caliber pistol. Munition Maintenance Squadron will have on display the types of weapons used in Viet Nam. These include the 750-pound conventional bomb and the 3.75-inch folding fin aircraft rocket. The MMS display also will include a continuous film on U.S. Air Force fighter power.
