Soo Line authority group to meet

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine #730 Authority will hold its regular Monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, at 819 Delta Ave., Solid Rock Church.

Continued planning for the annual 4-person Golf fundraiser on May 28 at the Escanaba Golf Course. Hole sponsors are being sought along with raffle prizes. The announcement of the Hole in One Sponsorship of O’Connors Chrysler Jeep Ram of Pickford.

Donations continue to be sought for perpetual care of the train into the future. New donations can be made for the future Gladstone/Soo Line Historical Museum as a site is being sought and building plans are being formalized. All donations are being accepted by the Community Foundation for Delta County, 2420 1st Ave South, Escanaba, Michigan. 49829. Checks must be made out in care of Soo Line #730.

The Soo Line History display is once again set up and underway at the U.P. State Bank location in Gladstone. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to them for their generous support promoting our cause throughout this month. All are invited to stop in and see the history of the Soo Line that will be displayed in our future museum.

Interested persons can call authority President John Pickard for details at 906-241-0888. Soo Line #730 train t-shirts and sweatshirts, coffee mugs and memorabilia continues to be available at the U.P. State Bank during the month of May. Organizers encourage anyone in the community who would want join the group to attend.
