Sheriff’s office thankful for fundraiser

MUNISING — The Alger County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public and sponsors who assisted in its 4th annual ice fishing tournament on Munising Bay.

On March 4, the Alger County Sheriff’s Office Rescue 21 team successfully conducted their 4th tournament raising over $15,000 for Rescue 21 supplies and equipment. This tournament, organized through Undersheriff Steve Blank and R21 members, has greatly assisted the sheriff’s office in their efforts to keep Alger County safe.

This year the team showcased a 2026 22-foot Islander airboat, that was purchased to assist in ice and water rescues. Money raised from the tournament will go toward the purchase of this vessel. This airboat will be used to replace the county’s hovercraft, which has shown signs of aging this winter.

Blank said, “We would like to thank our tremendous sponsors for their generous donations to our tournament and R21 team. We could never pull off an event this big without your support.”

Added Sheriff Todd Brock: “Steve has done an amazing job and his tireless work has helped keep our citizens safe and secure.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
