Quilt guild to meet
POWERS — The Wild Rivers Quilt Guild invites all area quilters and interested people to attend its upcoming meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the Florence Natural Resource Center, 5638 Forestry Drive, Florence, Wisconsin. This month’s Tips & Techniques program will feature Eileen Daniels who will present “Vintage Linens with a Twist,” a delightful and inspiring look at transforming treasured textiles into quilted works of art. She’ll showcase creative uses for men’s ties, 1950s tablecloths, hankies, lace, embroidered pillowcases, crocheted pieces, and more.
With 30+ quilted items and plenty of humorous stories, Daniels will spark ideas that send you home eager to explore the forgotten treasures tucked in your dresser drawers. See creations inspired by

Daniels is a quilt artist, teacher and lecturer from Brodhead, Wisconsin. She has a passion for sewing and quilting and sharing her skills with others. With a masters degree in home economics and a survivor of teaching in the public school for 30 years she now has her wearable art and quilts appearing regularly in juried shows across the country. Her winning quilts and wearables are inspired by nature and showcase many embellishments.
Daniels’ goal is to encourage others to learn new quilting techniques and have fun at the same time. Also, prior to the meeting at 1-4 p.m., Daniels is presenting a workshop, “Here is My Textile, What do I do with it?” Guests will spend a halfday with her as she shares a wealth of ideas, inspiration and a detailed handout on how to repurpose vintage linens into meaningful quilted pieces. No sewing machine or equipment is required. Simply bring a pen and one or two of your favorite vintage linens you’d like to explore–such as antique blocks, doilies, embroidered table runners, tablecloths, pillowcases or similar items.
The workshop fee for non-members is $10 and should be made payable to Wild Rivers Quilt Guild and mailed to our Wild Rivers Quilt Guild Treasurer: at W4116 US 2, Powers, Michigan 49874.
