Sarah Smart of the Onagomingkway chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, awards Alyssa dela Cruz with the pin, certificate and monetary prize given to the chapter Good Citizen winner. dela Cruz, a senior at Norway High School, was selected by school staff for her academic success, extracurricular activities and community involvement and sat for a two-hour extemporaneous paper describing how the characteristics of a good citizen help to renew and strengthen the democracy achieved by Patriots of the American Revolution. Her paper was then judged and chosen as chapter winner from over a dozen entries across the western Upper Peninsula and was sent on to the state competition. dela Cruz will study animal science at UW-Madison as a pre-vet student, concentrating on large animals.
