Bee Positive with native plants: Creating Habitat for native U.P. bees
MARQUETTE — From 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, join organizers at Moosewood Nature Center in Marquette for the presentation, Bee Positive With Native Plants: Creating Habitat For Native U.P. Bees. Michelle Wietek of Designs By Nature will talk about native bees, their relationships with native plants and tips for creating healthy bee habitat in your own backyard.
A native plant sale will follow at 11 a.m. (no early sales). A portion of the sale will benefit Moosewood Nature Center.
This is an early-season sale so organizers can’t accept pre-orders, but organizers will have overwintered stock that is likely to bloom this year, as well as shiny new plants fresh from the greenhouse. Native flowers and decorative native grasses for flower beds, landscaping, diversifying fields, adding habitat in shady or sandy spots, and feeding bees, butterflies and birds.
Organizers will also have a selection of shrubs for wildlife and color and their ever-popular garden kits – trays of 38 plants pre-arranged to go well together and meet your gardening goals easily and for less than $3 per plant.
