Holocaust remembrance service set
MARQUETTE — At 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, the annual holocaust remembrance service will be presented by the Marquette Interfaith Forum and Temple Beth Sholom.
The Shoah (Holocaust) guest speaker is Annette Gendler, the author of “Natalie and the Nazi Soldiers.” This is the story of her mother-in-law’s experience as a hidden child in France during the Holocaust and what it took to make this into an award-winning children’s book.
This will include her research into the history of hidden Jews in France and the people that made it possible as well as images and impressions from the family’s 2009 trip to the village where her mother-in-law had been hidden.
Commentary will be offered by select speakers from Marquette and Northern Michigan University and choral presentations by the Marquette Male Chorus and the Marquette Senior High School Chorale. The event will be hosted by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 201 E. Ridge St., Marquette, followed by an informal dessert reception hosted by Temple Beth Sholom (diagonally across Ridge St. from St. Paul’s) at 223 Blaker St.
All are welcome. There is no charge nor reservation needed.
