Co-Op board to host annual Earth Day clean-up event
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Food Co-op Board of Directors is hosting an Earth Day clean-up event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.
The event will bring the community together to pick up garbage that has accumulated over the winter months in the neighborhoods surrounding the store.
“Now more than ever, it is important to come together as a community and work toward achieving a shared goal,” said Olivia Kingery, MFC board secretary and event lead. “The board invites the community to join us in one of the most important goals of all: keeping our streets and spaces clean! Please join us in celebrating Marquette and our natural areas by helping clean up trash around the city.”
Participants should plan to meet in the co-op’s classroom space (in the basement) at 11am to get geared up with gloves and bags before venturing out. The co-op will also provide warm beverages and snacks, and attendees can enter to win raffle prizes.
Partridge Creek Compost, Recycle 906, the Superior Watershed Partnership and the Yellowdog Watershed Preserve will also be in the store to share more about their work. Free trees will be available from Superior Watershed Partnership.
Everyone is welcome, and no registration is required to help.
