Bay Mills receives $50,000 Mass Timber Grant from Michigan Mass Timber Catalyst Program

BRIMLEY — The Bay Mills Indian Community has received $50,000 through the Michigan Mass Timber Catalyst Program to support a planned long-term care facility in Brimley.

The project is the only Upper Peninsula awardee in the program’s first cohort and will receive both funding and technical assistance during the early planning and design phase. The award places Bay Mills within Michigan’s growing mass timber movement, which now includes more than 65 projects complete, underway, or in development statewide.

It is a positive sign that wood-based innovation and new building approaches are creating fresh opportunities for construction and forest-product markets in the U.P.

Starting at $3.23/week.
