50,000 grant supports IXL museum preservation work in Hermansville

HERMANSVILLE — The IXL Historical Museum in Hermansville is moving ahead with restoration work on its 19th-century main office building with support from a $50,000 America 250 MI grant.

Repairs to damaged wood are underway, most of the old paint has been removed and exterior painting is expected to resume May 1, with completion targeted within a few weeks, depending on weather.

Additional support from the Hannahville Indian Community and the Dagenais Foundation will help address electrical upgrades inside the historic structure. The project helps preserve one of Menominee County’s signature heritage sites while setting the stage for a July 4 grand reopening celebration.

Starting at $3.23/week.
