Whitmer makes appointments to boards and commissions
MARQUETTE — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has announced a new round of appointments to the state boards. Four Upper Peninsula residents were among those chosen to serve.
• Michigan Board of Counseling
Robin Chosa, of Baraga, is the small business navigator tribal liaison at Michigan Technological University. Chosa holds an associate of applied science in business from Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Michigan Technological University. Robin Chosa will be reappointed as a member of the public for a term commencing July 1 and expiring June 30, 2030.
• Rural Development Fund Board
Alexander Kofsky, of Marquette, is the executive director of Accelerate UP. Kofsky holds a Bachelor of Science in business and international studies from Northern Michigan University. Alexander Kofsky will be appointed as a Democrat and resident of the Upper Peninsula for a term commencing Jan. 1, 2027, and Dec. 31, 2030. Kofsky will succeed Christopher Germain, whose term will expire.
• Michigan Propane Commission
Kristopher Bowman, of Gulliver, is the president of Bowman Gas Company. Bowman is a member of the Propane Gas Association Board of Directors and the chair of the Propane Emergency Response Network Committee. Kristopher Bowman is reappointed as an individual engaged in the retail propane industry in this state as an employee or owner of a retail propane marketer for not less than 2 years immediately before appointment for a term commencing March 5, 2026, and expiring July 1, 2027.
• Commission on Services to the Aging
Mark Bomberg, of Gladstone, is the former director of long-term care programs at the Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress. Gladstone holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Marquette University and a Master of Public Administration from Northern Michigan University. Mark Bomberg will be reappointed as a Republican for a term commencing July 29 and expiring July 28, 2029.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
