UP Notable Book Club presents Q&A with Ellen Lord, author of ‘Vigil’
CRYSTAL FALLS — UP Notable Book Club: The Crystal Falls Community District Library in partnership with the U.P. Publishers & Authors Association has scheduled author events with winners of the UP Notable Book List.
The 57th event is with author Ellen Lord (Ontonagon County), whose poetry is alive with insights about how life’s challenges show up in our relationships to family and loved ones.
Next month, U.P. Notable Books honors Ellen’s latest chapbook, “Vigil,” which is a loose collection of vignettes about the ordinary and extraordinary challenges of life in the Upper Peninsula.
The title poem “Vigil” honors her brother, Guss Lord (1949-2023), a Vietnam-era US Navy veteran whose defiant pose graces the cover of “Vigil.”
The event is at 7 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. Central Thursday, April 9, on the Zoom platform. Please contact Evelyn Gathu in advance at egathu@crystalfallslibrary.org, or by phone at 906-875-3344.
Organizers recommend participants borrow a copy of these books from their local library or purchase from your local bookseller in advance to get the most out of these events.
