MSP St. Ignace post announces promotion

ST. IGNACE — The Michigan State Police at the St. Ignace post has announced the promotion of Sgt. Jonathan Morrison.

Morrison, who grew up in Pickford, enlisted in the United States Air Force following his high school graduation, where he honorably served for four years. After completing his military service, he earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Lake Superior State University.

He enlisted with the MSP in June 2014 as a member of the 127th Trooper Recruit School. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the St. Ignace post, where he began his career as a trooper.

Throughout his career with MSP, Morrison has served in a variety of roles. He worked as a detective trooper with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, dedicating several years to combating illegal drug activity in the Upper Peninsula.

In addition, he has served the department by taking on additional responsibilities including roles as a defensive tactics instructor and field training officer. Morrison is recognized as a valuable and trusted resource for fellow MSP members and partner law enforcement agencies.

The MSP St. Ignace post congratulates Sergeant Morrison on his well-earned promotion and looks forward to his continued leadership and service to the community.
