Marinette County investigates fatal fire
MARINETTE, Wisc. — At approximately 6:08 a.m. Tuesday, Marinette County Dispatch was notified of a residential structure fire at W9039 Holmes Junction Road in the town of Pembine.
The Beecher Dunbar Pembine Fire Department and Amberg Fire Department responded to the scene along with deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.
During fire suppression efforts, a search was conducted by fire members and a male occupant was located, removed from the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Roy J. Newling, age 30, of Pembine. Three other occupants of the home, a 30-year-old female, a 9-year-old child and a 2-year-old child were transported for medical treatment.
“Our thoughts are with the Newling family during this difficult time,” Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller said in a press release.
The fire remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Also assisting at the scene were members from the Beecher Dunbar Pembine Rescue, Wausaukee Rescue and Integrity Care EMS.
