Housing Now releases two free housing pattern books to accelerate home construction

MARQUETTE — Housing Now, a community-driven, public-private housing initiative hosted by the Lake Superior Community Partnership Foundation, has announced the release of two housing pattern books, free, downloadable architectural drawings designed to lower the barriers to new home construction in Marquette County and across the Upper Peninsula.

Made possible through funding from the Central Upper Peninsula Regional Housing Partnership (hosted by CUPPAD), the pattern books offer two ready-to-download home designs: a single-story, two-bedroom home and a two-story, three-bedroom home.

Both plans are approximately 1,200 square feet and were purposefully designed to be cost-effective, using common dimensions and standard shapes that keep materials and labor predictable.

The drawings were designed by local architecture firm Leppanen Anker Arquitectura and guided by a committee consisting of local housing advocates, local government officials and builders. They were available for preview at the recent Marquette County Emerging Developers gathering and the U.P. Home Builders Show and are now available online.

Starting at $3.23/week.
