ESCANABA – Two legs of the U.P. 200 called off. Race organizers cancelled 112 miles of the 224 U.P. 200 Sled Dog Championship Saturday night for safety reasons. A shortened version of the race, which began in Marquette Friday night, will still end in Marquette today, with the first mushers expected to arrive at 10 a.m.

MARQUETTE – Temperatures plummeted to the season’s low of 11 below zero in Marquette this morning, as the cold wave entered its third day and was predicted to continue. The previous low of -10 occurred Jan. 27.
